We all have been busy but am not going to justify our busy-neess. It's just that time off work and school are spent practising for the 108th Philippines Independence day. It was fun, a camaraderie spirit developed and somehow my daughter was all of a sudden laid immerse with the filipinos in such a cooperative and giving way. Although, take note, it was a helluva too, having to deal with the so called 'filipino time", like we were told to practise at 7:00pm and indeed up practising at half past eleven pm. That's our filipino way....Despite of this inconvenience, we were able to do our best. Colleen has to dance the tinikling with a new partner while I did with the rest the pandango.

This was the first presentation during the independence day last June 12
We celebrated the independence day with the diplomats on June 12th. But what was disappointing was, even in diplomatic functions, some of my compatriots here for once can't change their tardiness. The reception was supposedly to start at 6:00pm and of course, all the ambassadors were there on time....and we were supposed to perform at 7:00pm just to entertain the diplomats while having their cocktails. What can you guess, the dance participants were not there on time but we finally performed, a little late..... and with only a few asian ambassadors and other guests remaining but of course with a full pack filipino audience. Even if the main objective was to present the cultural dances to the guests other than our compatriots, the show went on with enthusiasm and appreciation from the audience.

This is then the presentation in Sheraton hotel last june 16th, it was tagged a cultural show presentation from the Filipino community in
Colleen performed the Tinikling, Jabanera dance, the La Combia and the Singkil. Other than those tiring dances, she gave a special song number just with the guitar. She was well applauded. Just imagine how she changes from one costume to the others. Am so happy that Colleen's last days in
Tiny little girls and boys were all lovely in their santacruzan attire too and even their dances were really something to entertain the guests.

Hi Phoebes, am sure youre busy with packing for your vacation and finishing up with work stuffs. Thanks for sharing the pics, have u seen the pics from Tyler's party yet? He loves the basketball hoop you gave him, he plays with it every day. thanks again. :)
Congratulations on the success of your Independence Day celebration despite the few hassles here and there with the 'tardiness' of some participants, lol. I know it is very disappointing that some people do not have respect for other people's time, I hope this stigma of 'filipino time' attached to our 'persona' would vanish and corrected all together.
